Case Study #1
A company came to us with concerns that their CFO was embezzling funds. We uncovered over eight million dollars being diverted to various bogus companies the CFO set up to hide the money. We learned the CFO was also funding a local band and get-away trips to the islands. We also uncovered the CFO purchased several waterfront homes in South Florida and three boats. Result: After we concluded our investigation, the evidence was eventually turned over to the F.B.I. who filed charges, and the CFO was convicted and sentenced to 11 years in Federal Prison.
Case Study #2
Feegel was assigned to locate various witnesses in a murder case. Feegel located six witnesses who later testified at the trial of the defendant who was accused of killing his best friend of 37 years. In each testimony, these witnesses all addressed the deceased’s wife as the real culprit. As it turned out, the deceased’s wife had been married four times prior to the death of her husband. In each case the husband mysteriously died and their bodies were all cremated. In this particular case, Feegel discovered that the deceased’s wife claimed to be a graduate of the Florida police academy and was hired by the Daytona Police Department, where she submitted fraudulent credentials. She claimed to have written “The Grapes of Wrath.” She once boasted about having “outpatient brain surgery.” When her former employer, a Ph.D. from Stanford was interviewed, it was asked if he thought it was unusual that some folks suspected her of killing five people. The employer stated, “Yes, that would surprise me that it was only five people.” Result: The defendant in this case was acquitted and the wife was later reinvestigated and arrested, then convicted of the original murder. The defendant in this case sued the law enforcement agency and collected the maximum amount against a municipality, $250,000.
Case Study #3
A local criminal defense attorney needed to find a crucial witness. He called Feegel and asked him to locate this witness, who also happened to be a prostitute. Within one day, the witness was located, interviewed, treated with respect and courtesy and she agreed to testify as to what she had seen. The defendant was originally charged with dealing in drugs and in possession of a firearm. This defendant faced an automatic 10 years in prison. Result: With the testimony of the witness, the case was dismissed as the witness corroborated the original defense of the defendant. He did not commit this crime and was exonerated.
Case Study #4
In another criminal case, a defendant was arrested and charged with two counts of capital sexual battery by his adult daughters. This vindictive accusation was based over the parents not giving the daughters money. The parents decided it was time that they get a job. The daughters conspired to railroad the father and their claims were unfounded. Feegel was retained to investigate the daughters. Feegel determined that the daughters were working as prostitutes and selling drugs. Feegel located the daughter’s pediatrician, their teachers and friends. None of these witnesses could remember any signs of abuse. One daughter claimed to have once had a compound fracture to her forearm and she also claimed to have received treatment from her mother by using a raw potato to cure the injury. Result: The end result was that the client/defendant was acquitted of all charges.
